Keynote Speaker
Cindi Jones, Director; Virginia Healthcare Reform
Cindi B. Jones has two jobs for the Commonwealth of Virginia. For the past year, she has been the
Director of the Virginia Health Reform Initiative in the Office of the Secretary of Health and Human
Resources where she is the policy lead for both the federal and state health care reform efforts. On
September 1, 2011, she also became the Medicaid Director for the Virginia.
She has more than 20 years of public service experience with the Commonwealth of Virginia in
various health care positions and has been appointed to positions by three Governors. Most recently,
she served as the Interim Director and Chief Deputy Director of the Medicaid program. She also has
worked for an oversight agency of the Virginia General Assembly, established to evaluate the
operations and performance of state agencies and programs. The focus of her career has been on
developing, implementing, and evaluating state health and human service programs, policies, and
funding mechanisms. She has achieved the reputation as an open and effective leader among all types
of stakeholders in the public and private health care sector. Ms. Jones completed both her BS and MS
from Virginia Tech.

Mark A. Farber, MD, FACS
University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC
Dr. Farber is Director of the UNC Endovascular Institute and associate professor of surgery and
radiology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine and UNC Hospitals.
He received his bachelors in chemical engineering from Cornell University and received his medical
degree from Tulane University.
His specialties and research interests include endovascular surgery, aortic aneurysms, carotid disease,
and venous disorders. Dr. Farber travels widely to train other vascular surgeons in various specialized
techniques.
John S. Steinberg, DPM, FACFAS
Georgetown University Hospital, Washington, DC
Dr. Steinberg completed medical school at the Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine in
Florida, and completed a podiatric surgical residency at the Northern Virginia Podiatric Residency
Program in Fairfax, VA. Dr. Steinberg also completed a fellowship in Diabetic Limb Salvage at the
University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Steinberg is certified by the
American Board of Podiatric Surgery, and is certified in Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Surgery.
His special interests include diabetic limb salvage, bioengineered alternative tissues, problem wound
healing, reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, prevention of ulcer recurrence, and the advanced
treatment of diabetic foot infection.
