Cindi B. Jones
Ms. Jones has two positions for the Commonwealth of Virginia. For the past year, she has been
the Director of the Virginia Health Reform Initiative in the Office of the Secretary of Health and
Human Resources where she is the policy lead for both the federal and state health care
reform efforts. On September 1, 2011, she also became the Medicaid Director for the Virginia.
She has more than 20 years of public service experience with the Commonwealth of Virginia in
various health care positions and has been appointed to positions by three Governors. Most
recently, she served as the Interim Director and Chief Deputy Director of the Medicaid
program. She also has worked for an oversight agency of the Virginia General Assembly,
established to evaluate the operations and performance of state agencies and programs. The
focus of her career has been on developing, implementing, and evaluating state health and
human service programs, policies, and funding mechanisms. She has achieved the reputation
as an open and effective leader among all types of stakeholders in the public and private
health care sector. Ms. Jones received both a B.S. and M.S. from Virginia Tech.
