CMS PROPOSES POLICY CHANGES
AND PAYMENT UPDATES FOR DIALYSIS
FACILITIES IN 2012
AND REQUIREMENTS THAT WOULD
STRENGTHEN INCENTIVES TO IMPROVE
ESRD TREATMENT OUTCOMES
1. Percent of patients receiving treatment
through a form of permanent access e.g.
AVF/G vs. catheters;
2. Rates of infection of the vascular access
sites;
3. Ratios of hospitalization rates among
dialysis clinic patients; whether the facility
reports certain dialysis-related infections to
the Centers for Disease Control &
