Next Steps in 2012
• VHRI will continue to meet on policy/program issues critical
to the Exchange, including the Essential Health Benefit
Plan, the Medicaid benefit plan, and the administrative
issues to operating an Exchange.
• Virginia is in the process of developing a RFP for a
replacement social services and Medicaid eligibility system
which lays the groundwork for the eligibility interfaces
needed for the Health Benefit Exchange; will include an
optional Health Benefit Exchange model.
• Virginia will seek 100% federal funding for the development
and implementation of a Health Benefit Exchange rather
than default to federal Exchange.
